I spy, with my little eye, a Spy Fly
Friday, March 27th, 2009
That sound you heard? It was me, screaming with joy over my new Spy Fly. Through some eBay mojo and the identification skills of a friend (who needs to finish a questionairre — nudge, nudge) I happened to pick up one of the static or test Spy Flys from the Golden Compass film. I had [...]

More Christmas Gifts
Monday, February 11th, 2008
Continuing my game of catch-up, I’m finally getting around to processing photos of the wonderful gifts sent to me by fellow artisan Danielle. Danielle hand-crafted an assortment of artifacts from Lyra’s world. Presented as if collected by a traveling scholar, there are plant samples, a witch’s arrow plucked from a tree after a [...]

What every movie needs is a polar bear fight
Sunday, December 9th, 2007
I saw the Golden Compass on Friday, and regardless of how I felt about the rest of the movie (I loved it), even if it was utter tripe, the polar bear fight in the middle would have redeemed the whole thing. In fact, I’ve come to the conclusion that almost every movie could be improved by [...]

Alethiometer Pocket Watch Part Two
Friday, April 13th, 2007
Well, it’s finally done. My first Alethiometer pocket watch. While the prototype was nice, the final one has much cleaner cuts, I enlarged the symbols a bit, and I made a lovely little presentation box. I updated the page with photos of the box and the final watch. I’m really enjoying playing with [...]

Alethiometer Pocket Watch
Sunday, April 1st, 2007
I’ve got a bit pocket watch crazy these past couple of weeks. First I made my Mad-eye Moody pocket watch, and then I was contact by Danielle who asked me if I’d ever thought of doing an alethiometer pocket watch. I thought, “why not!” I had a heck of a time trimming the [...]

Golden Goodness
Monday, February 12th, 2007
Wow. Just wow. Toys for the new Golden Compass movie are going to be released by Corgi. Could that mean the Master Replicas will be doing prop replicas as well?
Gosh, I hope so. I’m still not that enamored of the movie Alethiometer’s symbols (I don’t think they should be in color). I’ll [...]
